Egypt’s first Ottoman mosque, Sariyat Al-Jabal, is set to reopen next Saturday after undergoing renovation.
The Mosque is also known as Suleiman Pasha Al-Khadem Mosque and is located inside the Citadel of Saladin.
It was established in 1528 by the prominent Ottoman ruler Suleiman Pasha Al-Khadem.
The restoration efforts seek to preserve the mosque’s historical and cultural significance as Egypt’s first mosque built in Ottoman architecture.
The project included work to get the mosque’s original features back as well as to tackle damages caused by time and environmental factors.
