Egyptian stock markets ended higher on Wednesday coinciding with the third day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Main index as EGX30 added 0.81 percent, to 7780.13 points.
During Ramadan, the trading sessions start at 10 a.m. Cairo Local Time (8:00 GMT) and end at 1:30 p.m. (11:30 GMT), reducing trading hours by one hour.
Other indices; EGX50 EWI index edged up 0.83 percent, to 1415.71 points; while EGX20 grew 1.47 percent, to 8050.18 points.
Mid- and small-cap index EGX70 dipped 0.08 percent, to 372.2 points. Price index, EGX100 rose 0.11 percent, to 791.98 points.
Market Caps
Market capitalisation gained 2.1 billion Egyptian pounds ($236.5 million), to record 409.502 billion pounds during the closing session of Wednesday.
Turnovers higher
The bourse’s trading volume hit 198.116 million securities, with turnovers, closing at 1.224 billion pounds, exchanged through 20,588 transactions.
Also during the closing session, 172 listed securities have been traded in, 44 declined, 79 advanced; while 47 kept their previous levels.
Investors’ Activities
Local and Arab investors were net buyers controlling 91.01 and 3.86 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 4.519 million pounds and 5.329 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.
On the contrary, non-Arab foreign investors were net sellers capturing 5.13 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 9.848 million pounds, excluding the deals.
