Cairo Bourse losses $560mln with red indices

Egyptian Exchange closed lower on Wednesday with losses worth 4.5 billion Egyptian pounds (US$560.3 million).

The market capitalisation has reached 451.147 billion pounds during the closing session of Wednesday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 inched down by 0.72 percent to 7479.59 points.

The newly-launched EGX50 EWI index fall 0.75 percent to 1270.22 points.

EGX20 sagged by 1.01 percent to 7271.14 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 dropped 0.40 percent to 395.89 points. The price index, EGX100 decreased by 0.77 percent to 849.11 points.

Turnovers up

On Wednesday, the bourse’s trading volume has hit 288.877 million securities, with turnovers closed at EGP 1.079 billion, exchanged through 19,250 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 176 listed securities have been traded in; 93 declined, 39 advanced; while 34 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers on Wednesday seizing 79.99% and 2.08% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 4.089 million and EGP 6.740 million, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, the non-Arab investors were net buyers getting 17.93% of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 10.830 million, excluding the deals.
