In spite of the crisis of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam aroused last month, the Egyptian exports to the Ethiopian market unexpectedly climbed by 90% in May, pursuant to the official data of the Foreign Trade sector to “Amwal Al Ghad”.
The value of the exports in May recorded EGP 46 million, up from EGP 25 million at the same period last year.
Egypt’s exports to Ethiopia witnessed a remarkable decline during 2012, recording EGP 239 million, compared to EGP 280 million. These exports were mainly focused in a number of sectors, such as the building materials, fertilizers, chemicals and the food industries sector.
