British Council Organizes Mini-Olympic Day

Mini Olympic Games – organized by the British Council in partnership with the Egyptian Olympic committee – concluded its contests in Heliopolis Sports Club after 250 students from various schools competed amid four main sports including (Volleyball, Basketball, Table Tennis and Swimming).

Mini-Olympics day concluded with the victory of 15 schools for the first three place; Where Saint Fatima School came in the first place amid the Table Tennis, October language school came in the second place followed by Nefertari Language School in third place.

Amid Swimming, Egyptian Language School won the first place, while Egypt British International School came in second place followed by Port Said Language School in the third place.

Modern Education School won gold in Volleyball while Nefertari Language School came in the second place, and Egypt British International School was in third place.

In Basketball – Men, Egypt British International School won gold, while Nefertari Language School followed in second place, Port Said Language School ​​in third place.

In Basketball – Women, Modern Education School achieved first place while Nefertari Language School came in second place, International School of Elite won third place.

Mark Stephens, Country Director British Council Egypt, expressed his happiness with the success of the One day Mini-Olympics, inspired by London 2012 Olympic and Para Olympics which is the source of inspiration for thousands of people around the world, adding that he was very glade with the council’s support to Egyptian students through organizing such events, and to encourage youth to consider sport as a positive force for their life.”

Stephens added that the British Council aims to promote the integration and interaction between schools and students and to build team spirit among young people as well as supporting the standards of sustainable relations as the most important value of Sport.
