Egypt’s navy and air force are participating in the military operation in Yemen in an attempt to restore “legitimacy and stability” in the war-torn country, a presidency statement said on Thursday.

The Egyptian foreign ministry said on Thursday that Egypt is “providing political and military support” for an operation launched by Saudi Arabia and its Gulf Arab allies against Houthi fighters in Yemen.
Shia Houthi rebels stormed the southern coastal city of Aden on Wednesday.
Houthi fighters took over control of the Yemeni capital Sanaa in September, causing the Yemeni president Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to flee to Aden last month.
