Banks’ Investments In T-Bills Fell EGP 5.7 Bln In October: CBE

The Egyptian banking sector’s investments in treasury bills fell by EGP 5.728 billion (2.3%) to reach EGP 243.98 billion at the end of last October, compared to EGP 248.826 billion at the end of last September.

According to the Central Bank of Egypt’s recent report, the banks’ investments in existing T-bills dropped by EGP 5.482 billion to reach EGP 372.73 billion at the end of last October, compared to EGP 377.555 billion at the end of last September.

The public-sector banks accounted for 33% (EGP 122.7 billion) and private-sector banks accounted for 28.1% (EGP 104.7 billion) of the value of investments in T-bills at the end of last October.

Foreign banks accounted for 3.42% (EGP 12.7 billion) and specialized banks accounted for 0.76% (EGP 2.86 billion) of the value of investments in T-bills at the end of last October.
