The volume of deposits held by the Egyptian banking sector other than the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) surged 1.31% (EGP 14.63 billion) to reach EGP 1.128 trillion at the end of last February, compared to EGP 1.113 billion at the end of last January.
According to CBE’s recent statistics, the government deposits accounted for 11.35% and non-government deposits accounted for 88.65% of the total value of deposits.
The value of government deposits reached EGP 128.06 at the end of last February; of which EGP 71.7 billion are local-currency deposits and EGP 56.2 billion are foreign-currency deposits.
The value of non-government deposits reached EGP 1.0005 trillion at the end of last February; of which EGP 777.6 billion are local-currency deposits and EGP 222.8 billion are foreign currency deposits.
