Bank Sohar Salutes Omani Women As Partners In Nation-Building

by Amwal Al Ghad English

Inspired by the Royal vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos for the empowerment of Omani women, Bank Sohar continues to play a commendable part in the realisation of this strategic national goal. Through a multi-pronged effort that combines female recruitment, skills development, leadership training, as well as entrepreneurship promotion, Bank Sohar is committed to nurturing the growth of women as partners alongside men in national development.

Although one of Oman’s youngest banks, Bank Sohar has made impressive strides in empowering Omani women as a key driver of economic development. Thanks to a far-reaching and energetic programme adopted by the bank from the outset of its launch in 2007, women now account for a creditable 28 per cent of its workforce.

They hold positions of significant responsibility, authority and leadership across the various departments of the bank including Retail Banking, Wholesale Banking, Human Resources and many more.

Thus, in the context of this year’s Omani Women’s Day, which is being celebrated across the nation on October 17, 2012, Bank Sohar has a lot to be proud of in terms of its ongoing policy of engaging women as partners in nation-building.

” Bank Sohar applauds the women of Oman on the impressive strides they have made in all facets of national life. They have shown themselves to be pillars of strength, whether in the family, community or workplace. At Bank Sohar , we are proud to have 165 women working side by side with men in the joint achievement of our growth objectives.

The proverbial glass ceiling does not exist at our Bank, with several women already holding positions of authority by virtue of their professional performance and talent” said Dr Mohamed Abdulaziz Kalmoor, CEO, Bank Sohar .

“Our female employees have demonstrated their indispensability to the success of our operations by shouldering their responsibilities with remarkable confidence, efficiency and poise.

Drawing on their natural instincts, they have excelled in many areas of banking, notably risk management and compliance, human resource management, and relationship management. Indeed, women are not only the equal of their male counterparts, but are also methodological and organised, are deeply analytical, alert to risks and skilled in relationship management. Clearly, they represent a vital part of the Bank Sohar family,” commented Munira Abdulnabi Macki, DGM- Human Resources and Corporate Support.
