Arab contractors to complete utilising New El Alamein City in Egypt mid-2019

Egypt’s construction firm, Arab Contractors is set to complete implementing utilities works in the first phase of New Alamein City, northwest of Cairo mid-2019 at cost of 1.3 billion Egyptian pounds ($146mn), its Chairman Mohsen Salah said Monday.

New Alamein, to be built at an estimated initial cost of EGP 2 billion located over 1466 feddans. It is one of multiple new urban centers that the government has planned to accommodate a booming population, curb unemployment, and help the economy.

Arab contractors was directly assigned to connect the main utilities network to the new city along with implementing some works in the roads network in cooperation with the Armed Forces Engineering Authority.

The Ministry of Housing aims to complete the first phase of construction by 2020.  This initial phase will be completed on an area of 41,000  feddans.  An additional 8,000 feddans will be set aside for an International Tourism Zone.  A further 13 kilometers along the shoreline will be designated for public beaches.  The city will feature housing for all income levels.
