South Korea is home to a couple of Apple rivals in Samsung and LG. But the Apple iPhone X announced that Korean carrier SK Telecom sold out its stock in 3 minutes. That compares to the 20 minutes it took SK Telecom to sell out the Apple iPhone 7 last year.
The carrier said that the silver colored version of the tenth anniversary model was the most popular of the two color options (Space Gray being the other choice), selling out in just one minute.
In South Korea, the 64GB Apple iPhone X is priced at the equivalent of $1,237 versus the $999 the phone costs in the states. That makes the quick sell out in South Korea even more interesting. While we have no idea how many units of the iPhone X SK Telecom had to sell, analysts estimate that Apple had shipped 150,000 iPhone X handsets to the country. And all of this has taken place right in Samsung and LG’s backyard.
With iPhone X shipping times dropping in many countries to 2 to 3 weeks, whatever issues Apple had with the production of the phone appear to have been solved. Analysts say that Apple sold 9 million to 12 million units of the iPhone X during the launch weekend earlier this month.
