Amr Hamzawi, Ambassador of Vodafone Literacy Initiative

Prof. Amr Hamzawi, member of PA, joined “Literacy Initiative” as an ambassador. This initiative, in cooperation with Life Makers Association, Coptic Evangelical Organization, Youth Association for Population and Development, Ministry of Education and UNESCO, aims to eradicate illiteracy of 17 million Egyptians within five years.

Hatem Dowider, CEO of Vodafone Egypt, said science is the main factor for developing the society; referring that the target of this initiative is to eradicate illiteracy in Egypt by 2017.

The initiative covered about 52 thousands participants, 80% of them are females, and 12 thousands volunteers, 80% of them are females also. The company is still continuing its national plan to eliminate unemployment.

For his side, Hemzawi said participating in the initiative as a volunteer came at a crucial period of Egypt’s history which witnesses a change in the global state. He added that all private and governmental spectrums and non-governmental organizations in order to wipe out the phenomenon that almost 30% of Egyptian society suffer.

Hamzawi mentioned that his role in the initiative came as a part of volunteering and activates his role as a member of “revolution’s parliament” in order to make changes in Egyptian society.
