AlexBank, a subsidiary of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, announced early Thursday that the bank’s non-executive chairman Bruno Gamba has passed away.
The funeral will take place today evening at 20:00 p.m. Cairo time (17:00 GMT) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Downtown, Cairo.
The late banking official joined AlexBank since 2007 served as the bank’s Chief Risk Officer. In 2009, He held the post of Deputy Chairman, primarily responsible for overseeing the Governance Area of the Bank which includes: Risk Management, Accounting, Planning and Control, Operations, Information Technology, Real Estate & Procurement and the Organization & PMO divisions. He was then named in 2011 the Chairman, and then later he became the Non-Executive Chairman.
Before joining AlexBank, Gamba has held a number of prominent positions within the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, most notably as the General Manager (CEO) of Cassa di Risparmio di Ascoli Piceno S.P.A – a subsidiary of Intesa Sanpaolo, and also as the Deputy General Manager of the Banca Intesa London Branch, overseeing a portfolio of total assets in excess of Euro 25 billion.
Gamba also served as the General Manager of Banca Intesa Hong Kong Branch from 1996 to 2000.
