AlexBank, part of Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo, says it disbursed 16 million Egyptian pounds ($893,181) for socially responsible financing since the beginning of the year.
The bank has earmarked 20 million pounds for socially responsible projects for 2018, said Laila Hosny, head of CSR and sustainable development.
“We have disbursed so far 16 million pounds for health, education, agriculture, and handicrafts. The financing benefited around 4,500 craftsmen directly and 8,500 others indirectly,” Hosny told Amwal Al Ghad on Tuesday.
The remaining 4 million pounds will go for helping small craftsmen in Egypt improve their expertise, she added.
AlexBank plans to send some local handicraft firms to participate in a major exhibition in Italy next December along with another in Germany by early 2019, Hosny said.
