ALEXBANK, a subsidiary of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, announced in a press release on Sunday the appointment of Roberto Vercelli as Chief Executive Officer after obtaining the approval of The Central Bank of Egypt. Vercelli replaces Bruno Gamba, who will continue with ALEXBANK Intesa Sanpaolo in his new post as Non-Executive Chairman.
Vercelli joined ALEXBANK Intesa Sanpaolo in 2011 as the Deputy Chairman and Managing Director- Governance. He enjoys vast expertise spanning more than 30 years in accounting and auditing.
Vercelli started his banking career in 1981 with Istituto Bancario San Paolo di Torino. Throughout his successful career, he assumed numerous leading positions in the Intesa Sanpaolo Group from 2000 until 2007, including Head of International Activities Group, part of the Internal Auditing Division which takes account of more than 40 companies. He was also responsible for 13 foreign banks and 11 overseas branches of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group.
Vercelli was born in 1961 in Asti in northwest Italy and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Institute Giobert in Asti.
