Alex Bank Intesa Sanpaolo supplies its ATMs with more funds during public holidays and days off especially in industrial areas such as Badr City, 10th of Ramadan City, Sixth of October City and El-Tagamu El-Khames (fifth settlement) where there are many customers who want to withdraw their salaries, said Bassel Rahmy, head of retail banking group at the bank.
The bank doubled the volume of funds injected to its 270 ATMs spread across all governorates in Egypt to meet the customers’ requirements as banks are closed during the Easter holiday, he added.
He revealed that the ATMs with the higher demand are the ones supplied with more funds in places witnessing clashes such as Downtown. ATMs are guarded by security men and insured by insurance companies, he elaborated.
The bank had reduced the cash flows to ATMs by 25% after 2011’s revolution due to the security vacuum and high theft rates. However, the current volume of banknotes at ATMs meets the customers’ needs.
