ulture Minister Abdel Wahed al-Nabawy opened on Saturday Al-Seera Al-Hilaliya museum in Abnoud village, Qena in anniversary of 40 days since death of prominent poet Abdel Rahman al-Abnoudy.
A mass of media professionals and family of the deceased poet attendied the opening of the museum, which was established on area of 640 meters square.
The minister said that the museum was originally planned for by Abnoudy long time ago until he was able to establish it on a wide area including several sections and literature books. He added that Abnoudy targeted spreading culture in the Upper Egypt area.
Nabawy added that the ministry seeks to name several cultural palaces in Qena and Ismailia after Abnoudy as well as re-publishing some of Abnoudy’s works at low prices to be affordable for all readers.
Media figure Nehal Kamal, Abnoudy’s wife, said the museum is a gift from Abnoudy to the villagers, adding that it was established without financing or aid.
The opening was attended by Major General Adel Labib, local development minister, Hala Youssef, population minister, Major General Abdel Hamid al-Haggan, Qena governor.
