Ahly Chairman Mahmoud Taher has dismissed claims that the Red Devils management intended to withdraw from Egypt Cup games, confirming the team is preparing for the coming game against Gouna in the tournament.
Reports in the media claimed that Ahly would withdraw from the Egypt Cup due to sponsorship conflicts. The Egypt Cup is played under the leadership of the Egypt Football Association (EFA).
Last season, Ahly threatened to withdraw from the same tournament after EFA asked them to wear the logo of another sponsor during Egypt Cup games.
“We have no intention of withdrawing from the Egypt Cup as we will continue in the tournament,” Taher said Saturday.
Ahly are set to face Gouna in the round of 16 of the Egypt Cup on 13 August.
