Egypt’s stock market registered weekly gains worth 900 million Egyptian pounds (US$115 million) ahead of Eid al-Adha Muslim holiday, which takes place from September 23-27, 2015.
Indices
The country’s main stock index, EGX30 inched up 1.1 percent to close at 7346.54 points, versus 7267 points at the end of a week earlier.
The main gauge index registered its highest point on Tuesday closing at 7346.54 points, whereas its lowest point recorded on Sunday at 7234 points.
In addition, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 rose 0.8 percent in a week closing at 392 points during Tuesday’s session, compared to 389 points at the end of a week earlier.
The price index, EGX100 also grew 0.4 percent finishing at 846 points during Tuesday’s session, from 843 points at the end of a week earlier.
Market Cap
Market capitalisation ended at 448.324 billion pounds last Tuesday, compared to 447.4 billion pounds at the end of a week earlier.
Turnovers lower
In three sessions last week, the trading volume hit around 329.7 million securities, compared to 758.5 million. For the traded value, it reached 3.2 billion pounds against 7.3 billion pounds a week earlier.
