The Egyptian businessman Ahmed Abu Hashima has joined Mohamed Abdel Salam, the chairman of Misr for Central Clearing, Depository and Registry (MCDR), on the campaign trail in the Egyptian Football Association presidency. This was after the MCDR chairman had announced early Saturday that Eng. Samih Sawiris – El Gouna FC chairman – has also joined his campaign.
The MCDR chairman said he is going through the elections as he targets turning the football into an industry not just a game through plan made by his team which includes prominent sports men, businessmen, and media figures.
Abdel Salam added that upgrading small sporting clubs is his top priorities. “We will go on establishing non-governmental organizations aim to upgrade and finance the small sporting clubs with the help of the businessmen who have interests in sports industry.” Abdel Salam explained
He mentioned that his platform includes developing the Egyptian FA within 15 days by taking more care of sports marketing and association restructure.
Abdel Salam revealed that his campaign team includes Maged Samy – the Chairman of the Belgian K. Lierse S.K. and Wadi Degla FC, Ahmed Abu Hashima – Egyptian Steel Group Chairman, Tarek Ghoneim – Zamalek Sporting Club board member, Walid Salah Eddin – former player in Al-Ahli, Zakarya Nassef – former player Al-Ahli, Mahmoud Bakr – football commentator, Reda El Beltagi – the international referee, Magda El Helbawy – Olympic Sporting Club (El-Olympi) board member, Khaled Bayoumi – football commentator, and Khaled Latif – Zamalek’s former board member.
