by Administrator

Dr. Amr Badawy, CEO of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, stated that cutting off service for mobiles that do not meet the specifications is not a new occurrence, and that this is part of the campaign launched by the Authority two years ago. He added that this campaign will be executed in consecutive phases.

Badawy added that one of the campaigns’ phases will be carried out by cutting off the telecommunications service for irregular mobile phones, starting from next Saturday, adding that this will not happen suddenly, rather the consumers will be pre-informed.

All mobile phones that do not meet the specifications, regardless of the country of origin, will be disconnected, he said, denying that all these mobiles are made in China and refuting news that they will reach up to one million mobiles.

Moreover, Badawy said this campaign was launched due to the fact that these illegal mobile phones damages the networks and have a negative impact on the companies working in that sector.
