Wafiq: Public Utilities Sector to Have Its Own Budget

Dr. Tarek Wafiq, Minister of Housing and Urban Communities, affirmed that the budget of the agencies affiliated to the Ministry of Public Utilities will be separate from the Ministry of Housing’s share in the Public budget.

He added that the budgets of the National Authority for Water and Waste Water, the Executive Body for Drinking Water and Sanitation, and Holding Company for Water and Waste Water will be included in the budget of the new ministry.

The Department of Public Utilities which is affiliated to the New Urban Communities Authority will continue to be under the Authority’s supervision, while the Department of Public Utilities is still under discussion and will probably be merged with the new ministry, he said.
