Egypt’s finance ministry said on Friday that it will pay monthly salaries to state employees working in the country’s administrative authorities nine days earlier than usual ahead of the Islamic Eid Al-Adha holiday.
August salaries will be paid on 16 instead of 25 August, the ministry said on Friday.
The four-day Eid Al-Adha starts on 21 August.
September’s salaries will also be paid five days earlier, on the 20th, the ministry said
The ministry added that the early payment of salaries aims to make it easier for state employees to pay expenses ahead of feasts and national holidays, the ministry said.
Around 4.7 million Egyptians work in state administrative authorities, provincial administration and service bodies, Egypt’s official statistics agency CAMPAS said in October 2017.
