Egypt’s New Administrative Capital Company for Urban Development says it is still negotiating with Chinese firm CLSD to develop 15,000 feddans in the state’s new administrative capital city, 40km (24.8 miles) east of Cairo.

CLSD is seeking to obtain these feddans to build an industrial zone in the city, said New Administrative Capital Company’s spokesman and public relations manager Khaled Al-Husseini on Monday.

The under-construction new capital city is part of the Egyptian government’s plan to expand urban areas to deal with the country’s rapid population growth and improve the nation’s infrastructure.

The city will feature 1,250 mosques and churches, a 5,000-seat conference center, nearly 2,000 schools and colleges, over 600 medical facilities and a park that is projected to be the world’s largest.
