Egypt’s state-run construction firm Arab Contractors says it is near to complete drilling of 700 metres under the Suez Canal to establish two car tunnels.
The two tunnels are built in Port Said, come as part of Suez Canal Area Development Project, chairman Mohsen Salah further told Amwal Al Ghad on Saturday.
Arab Contractors is executing the two car tunnels in alliance with Orascom, while another consortium consisting of Concord for Engineering and Contracting and Petrojet is building two others in
Ismailia. The four tunnels are with total cost of 18 billion Egyptian pounds ($1 billion).
The company has imported German drilling machines worth €45 million, in order to complete Port Said’s two car tunnels, Salah said.
