Egypt is negotiating a $104 million funding package from the US Agency for International Development (USAID), aimed at investment, science, technology, education and health.

Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation and Investment Sahar Nasr met in Cairo with Sherry Carlin, country director of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), which is offering the funding package, according to a ministry statement.
The pair discussed cooperation on fighting corruption, support for technical education in Egypt, expanding investment to all sectors, and supporting and coordinating international financial institutions.

Nasr highlighted the participation of the private sector in projects, as well as young entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized enterprises, and microfinance.

Carlin, meanwhile, said that the US administration is keen to establish a strong partnership with Egypt in all fields and to expand its funding programmes in the county.

Since 1978, the USAID has provided nearly $30 billion for programs in education, health, economic development, and governance, according to the agency’s website.
