EU funding in Egypt amounts to €11 billion: official

The total amount of the EU funding to Egypt has reached so far €11 billion ($11.7 billion), said Christian Danielsson, Director-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (NEAR) at the European Commission, in Cairo.

Danielsson made these remarks following signing a €10 million ($10.6 million) grant agreement with Egyptian Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr in Cairo on Tuesday.

The grant is designated to implement the National Programme for Family Empowerment and Abandoning female genital mutilation (FGM).
