Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Yasser ELKady, has participated in the Forum organized by Huawei under the title “Enabling Digital Transformation” at the 20th Cairo ICT 2016.
The Forum was attended by the Executive Director of Smart Africa Alliance Hamadoun Touré, and other ICT specialists, discussing the global trends for the digital transformation.
During his speech, ElKady said that the government seeks to enable the transition towards a digital society, and that the most important element of the plan towards digital transformation is the creation of national databases to support decision-makers.
He has also said that the ICT sector has a clear vision towards creating a true digital society, through cooperating with international companies and creating effective partnerships based not only on establishing a presence in markets, but also on creating digital communities in the region as a whole. “Smart Africa” initiative was identified during the conference, which is a starting point on the right track, he has added.
For his part, Touré discussed the Egyptian Silicon Waha initiative for establishing technology parks. He has said that technology parks create an enabling environment for investment in the field of creativity and entrepreneurship and serve as a scientific and technological environment that attracts foreign and domestic investments, produces advanced services and provides excellent employment opportunities for ICT professionals.
