Nasr chairs Egypt delegation to Washington for IMF, World Bank meeting

As being Egypt’s governor at the World Bank, Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr will chair her country’s high-level delegation at the IMF and WB Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors in Washington.

This year, the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) will take place in Washington, DC, on October 7-9.

Central bank governor Tarek Amer, Finance Minister Amr el-Garhy, and Investment Minister Dalia Khorshed will join finance ministers and central bankers from around the world gathering at the event.

Nasr will start her Washington visit by holding a number of meeting with officials in the World Bank and International Financial Corporation (IFC). She will also participate at meetings of the international Group of 24 (G-24) as well as Arab governors at the Bank and meet with several development partners to discuss financing a number of development projects.

The citizens’ priorities will top the minister’s (Sahar Nasr) agenda during her meetings with development partners, a statement released by Ministry of International Cooperation said on Monday.

Nasr’s meetings with the World Bank officials will focus on discussing the $8 billion cooperation portfolio of programmes and projects, distributed as $6 billion from International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) for development projects and $2 billion from the IFC of for the private sector.

Nasr will also meet with heads of financial institutions that enjoy strong relations with the Egyptian government, including the African Development Bank (AfDB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

The Egyptian minister will participate in the World Bank panel named: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Implementation: National and Domestic Responses.
