Egypt signed Tuesday two grants totalling €69 million ($77.2 million) with the French Development Agency (AFD).

The grants are designated to finance Egypt’s national household natural gas connection project as well as to take part in programmes to develop the Egyptian youth’s skills.

Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, who signed the agreements, told reporters that the first grant is worth €68 million designated to increase the household use of natural gas, notably located in the poorest and most needy areas.

The second grant, valued at €1 million, will go for developing youth skills and conducting studies on the country’s new and renewable energy, health, transport, and social housing sectors, Minister Nasr said.
