Egypt seeks to apply environment-friendly technology for less polluted planet

Using more of environment-friendly technology shall effectively help minimise pollution originating from industry and energy use. This will directly lead to enhancing the quality of Egypt’s products both locally and globally, said Egyptian Minister of Industry and Trade Tarek Qabil.

The minister also brought to attention the importance of continued collaboration between Egypt and the European Union to integrate state-of-the-art technologies into industrial fields in order to get in harmony with Mother Nature.

This was all discussed at the opening of the second phase of MED TEST: Transfer of environmental sound Technology in the south Mediterranean region in the context of implementation of SWITHCH-MED sustainable consumption and production programme.

Qabil added that his ministry is working on improving the efficiency of used energy particularly in the industrial sector by 20-30 percent so as to be in line with environmental requirements.

MED TEST project which was launched with a total cost of $400,000 in the context of implementation of SWITHCH-MED sustainable consumption and production programme aims at reducing pollution of heavily contaminated industrial zones in Egypt.
