Egypt signs 34 renewable energy deals: sources

by Yomna Yasser

Egypt has signed around 34 new contracts for renewable energy projects under the feed-in tariff programme during November, official sources from electricity ministry told Amwal Al Ghad.

The feed-in tariff programme and other incentives for alternative energy projects are part of the Egyptian government’s efforts to expand Egypt’s domestic energy production, conventional and alternative, to meet domestic demand.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has set a goal of 20 percent of Egypt’s energy consumption to come from alternative sources by 2020.
