Ukraine has seized 21.2 percent of Egypt’s imports of agricultural crops during the first half of 2015 with exports estimated at 4.7 billion Egyptian pounds (US$600 million). Hence, Ukraine has topped the list of the largest ten importers to the Egyptian agricultural market.
According to the report issued Wednesday by the General Organisation for Export and Import Control (GOEIC), the volume of Egyptian imports of agricultural crops rose by 17 percent to 22.2 billion pounds at the end of June 2015 versus 18.9 billion pounds at the end of June 2014.
France was the second largest exporter of agricultural crops to Egypt with 3.2 billion pounds in January-June 2015 followed by Russia whose exports to Egypt are estimated at 2.1 billion pounds then Brazil with 1.3 billion pounds and Romania with exports worth 977 million pounds.
