Egypt Stocks remain bearish as Arabs sell

Egypt’s bourse incurred losses on Monday amounting to 1.6 billion Egyptian pounds (US$209.7 million) on Arab investors’ selloff.

The market capitalisation has recorded 484.549 billion pounds during the closing session of Monday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 went down by 0.22 percent to 8515.63 points. EGX20 also decreased by 0.52 percent to 8619.4 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 sagged by 0.46 percent to 444.69 points.

The price index, EGX100 dropped by 0.43 percent to 941.78 points.

Turnovers still low

On Monday, the bourse’s trading volume has reached 113.730 million securities, with turnovers closed at EGP 375.129 million, exchanged through 13.297 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 166 listed securities have been traded in; 35 declined, 96 advanced; while 34 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab investors were net sellers on Monday seizing 8.58% of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 30.233 million, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, local and non-Arab investors were net buyers acquiring 67.29% and 24.14% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 5.170 million and EGP 25.063 million, respectively, excluding the deals.
