Anti-Regime Saudi Protests in Eastern Province

by Administrator

Saudi protesters have held anti-regime demonstrations in several towns in the Qatif region of the oil-rich Eastern Province.
Demonstrators took to the streets on Friday evening.

Saudi protesters have been holding demonstrations on an almost regular basis in Eastern Province, mainly in Qatif and Awamiyah, calling for the release of all political prisoners, freedom of expression and assembly, and an end to widespread discrimination.

Demonstrations in Eastern Province began in February 2011 and they turned into protests against the Al Saud regime, especially since November 2011, when Saudi security forces killed five protesters and injured many others in Eastern Province.

Protesters on Friday also expressed solidarity with the people of Bahrain.

Bahraini activists say nine people have been killed by regime forces since March 17, 2012. Bahraini protesters hold King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa responsible for the death of protesters during the popular uprising that began in the country in February 2011, according to Press TV.
