TUNIS (TAP) – Minister of Foreign Affairs Taieb Baccouche received, on Monday in Tunis, Egypt’s Ambassador Aymen Mechrafa.

The Egyptian diplomat handed Mr. Baccouche a message of thanks from his Egyptian counterpart for the support provided by Tunisia to Egypt’s bid for a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council for the 2016-2017 period, said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Baccouche said Egypt will represent Arab countries in the best way, stressing the importance of the Arab issues included in the agenda of the Security Council, first and foremost the Palestinian issue.

They also include many other issues related to security, peace, conflict resolution and achievement of peace in Africa.

The Foreign Minister reaffirmed his wishes for success to Egypt in its campaign to mobilise the support of the international community to its bid for the Security Council during the elections scheduled on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting next October.
