Five people were injured in shootings amid clan clashes in Upper Egypt late Tuesday, state news agency MENA reported.
The Atshat and Hagbat families of Nagaa Hamady city reportedly used firearms amid the dispute. Five middle-aged men from both sides were injured in the melee.
Police are investigating the incident.
Clashes between large families and clans are common in Upper Egypt.
Last summer bloody clashes broke out in Aswan between the Arab tribe of Bani Helal and the Nubian clan of Daboudiya, killing 28 people.
A final reconciliation was reached – with the intervention of state authorities – involving the payment of blood money and mutual promises not to revive the violence.
