Lenovo Group Ltd is planning to launch smartphones range in Egypt within the second half of 2014.
During a press conference held on Tuesday, Yasser Shaheen – Lenovo Egypt Country Manager – stated that a new range of smartphones were launched few months ago in UAE markets, gaining in widespread popularity. Lenovo aims to capture the lion’s share of the UAE smartphone market within the upcoming period, Shaheen noted.
Moreover, he said as pursuant to the Global IDC’s predictions, Egyptian market is likely to go back to the pre-revolt consumption rates of electronic products by the end of 2014.
Shaheen pointed out that Egyptian market is currently witnessing sales ranging between 100.000 and 110.000 electronic units every 3 months, but in case of going back to the pre-revolt levels, it would post sales of 250.000 – 260.000 electronic units quarterly.
