The world is celebrating 75 years of human rights on Sunday, while Palestinians are mourning 75 years of oppression and occupation.
“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.” says Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
However, Palestinians are denied all of these aforementioned rights under an apartheid state, with Israel occupying their lands for 75 years.
In May 1948, the Palestinians were expelled from their homes and denied the right to ever get back.
During the 1948 Nakba, more than 15,000 civilians were killed and more than 750,000 turned into refugees.
In 2023, Israel is determined to turn the 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza into refugees in Egypt.
With its ongoing aggression, the occupation forces killed more than 17,500 innocent civilians and wounded more than 48,000, while the world watches.
“Democratic governments” have been educating Arabs on human rights for decades, however, they deny the rights of the Palestinian people to get back to their lands.
A right that was given to them by the UN after the Nakba, yet it was never fulfilled.
Palestinians living outside the occupied lands are also denied their rights to safety, with hate crimes committed against them on daily basis.
In mid-October, a six-year-old Palestinian boy was stabbed to death in the US, only for being Palestinian.
On November 25, three Palestinian university students were shot for speaking Arabic, with one of them leaving the hospital paralysed from chest down.
In July 2020, way before October 7, Instagram removed a photo Palestinian businessman Mohamed Hadid shared of his Palestinian passport.
According to Instagram, it goes against the rules of the platform.
Palestinians are even denied their dignity after their death, with Israelis constantly desecrating their tombs and attacking their coffins during the funerals.
As the world lives the lie of peace and human rights, a genocide is being committed against the Palestinian people.
