EGX Saying Good-Bye To 2012, Gains EGP 1.1 Bln

Ahead of New Year’s eve, the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) posted gains of EGP 1.1 billion during Monday’s closing session. The capital market has amounted to EGP 375.612 billion.

The EGX indices closed mixed.

The main index, EGX30 rose by 0.37% to end at 5462.42 p. EGX20 inched up by 1 % to close at 6342.16 p.

Meanwhile, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 fell by 0.43% to conclude at 477.08 pts.  Price index EGX100 went down by 0.24% to finish at 800.35 p.

During Monday’s closing, the trading volume has reached 142.608 million securities worth EGP 430.753 million, exchanged 23.736  thousand transactions.

This was after trading in 176 listed securities; 82 declined, 68 advanced; while 26 keeping their previous levels.

The non-Arab foreigners and Arabs’ buying  transactions have backed EGX’s gains for Sunday as they were net buyers seizing 15.07% and 10.45% respectively, of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 21.510 million and EGP 9.343 million excluding the deals.

On the other hand, Egyptians were net sellers seizing 74.48% of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 30.858 million excluding the deals.
