5th annual int’l conference on ICT for PwDs concludes in Egypt

The Fifth Annual International Conference on Communications and Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) took place on May 9 in Smart Village.  The two-day event was organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah elSisi.

Under the theme “Inclusion, Empowerment and Participation”, the event is an annual international conference, held annually to share MCIT vision of utilizing technology tools to empower PwDs, furnish their potentials and qualify them to take active and effective roles in their societies.

A number of sessions will be delivered on certain key issues, including ICT accessibilty policies, successful experiences in enabling PwDs in the Arab countries, the role of digital media in raising awareness on PwDs issues, Tamkeen competition and assitive technologies and equality in educational opportunities.

The previous four editions received remarkable international recognition from various countries, regional and international organizations, in addition to national and international exhibitors. Last year’s conference witnessed mutual cooperation between MCIT and the ITU Arab Regional Office in organizing a joint regional workshop to discuss prospects of the Arab Regional Center for ICT for PwDs.
