Around 16 Singaporean companies are participating in Egypt-Singapore Economic Forum that kicked off in Cairo on Tuesday, said the secretary-general of Asia Egypt Business Association (AEBA).

Ashraf Naguib said in a local TV talk show that Singapore looks at Egypt as being the gate of Africa and the Middle East.

Despite having a humble geographic location, the Four Asian Tigers; Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan, have major investments worldwide, Naguib added.

The Egyptian official further said that his country had begun to attract Singaporean investments to the Suez Canal development corridor and East Port Said to build logistics centres and ports in these two mega projects.
